10 Days, 10 Things To Be Thankful For

We are down to a ten day countdown! With ten days to go I want to think on ten things I am thankful for right now. God has given us far more than we deserve and He is worthy of our praise. Let me know below what you are thankful for today!

  1. God’s Word
Why is it that God’s Word is so sweet in times of uncertainty? I may not know what tomorrow holds but the consistency and inerrancy of the Holy Bible makes it a secure place of refuge to retreat to every day. My heavy or doubting heart is so thankful to have this place of refuge. I hurt to think there are so many people who do not know about this peace that passes understanding!
  2. The Best Husband
I know every wife is supposed to think their husband is the best. I might be a little biased but Nate Wilkerson truly is the greatest man I have ever met. He has sweetly lead me and faithfully pastored me. Nate obviously can’t be 100% perfect but he falls around the ninety-nine percentile I’m pretty sure. I want to be his biggest fan!
  3. Sweet Children
I might not “know” the baby in my belly just yet but I’m already thankful for him/her. I’m thankful for our baby boy, Azariah Luke. Children are a blessing from the Lord and I try not to take them for granted. Riah has been a sweet reminder of God’s love and patience toward us. With every stage God is teaching us something new!
  4. Supportive Family
Nate and I are both thankful to have families that love the Lord and encourage us as we seek to serve Him. We have only felt supported while following God’s will for our life. Sadly, we know this is not the case for everyone. Saying goodbye to family will be hard but I am happy to know they will be faithfully supporting and praying for us!
  5. Godly Friends
There are many friends that I hold dear to my heart. Some friends I have had since childhood and some I have just recently met on deputation. Every friend God has given me has been someone I am truly grateful for. You can learn something from anyone. Without a doubt God has used His people to push me closer to Him!
  6. My Local Church
God knew exactly what He was doing when He gave us the church! Through our home church we have received priceless counseling and leadership. I am so thankful for the ladies who are faithful examples in the church. I am also thankful for great men of God who have mentored and loved my husband through the local church.
  7. Faithful Missionaries
I am extremely thankful for Veteran Missionaries that have gone before us. These people have been used by God and will be essential to our training. We have next to no ministry experience and will be looking to the Veteran Missionaries to learn as much as we can! Lord willing, we will be returning the favor many years down the road as God continues to call new missionaries to the field.
  8. Rope Holders
We could not do the work God has called us to without rope holders sacrificially giving every single month. We were able to see God provide in His perfect timing exactly what we needed. I am so thankful for the churches and the incredible people we have met along deputation! Not only do we have countless faithful givers, we have countless faithful prayer warriors. I am comforted every day knowing God’s people are lifting us up in prayer.
  9. Good Health
This one is tough because it can be so fleeting. I thank God that my family has had good health while traveling over half of the United States. I am especially thankful for healthy pregnancies. God knows exactly what we need and He has always been faithful. I pray that I will still have a thankful heart even when our physical health fails!
  10. Uncertainty
I have never set foot in Burkina Faso, West Africa. I am very uncertain as to what it will be like! Sometimes my thoughts make me laugh because they can get quite carried away imagining what to expect! However, I am thankful for this uncertainty. It has shown me that I do not have control over my own life. It has brought me closer to Christ as I seek Him for my security and not my surroundings. God has used this doubt to teach me I don’t need to know it all. I can rejoice in the fact that he has given me TODAY to serve Him. He holds tomorrow securely in His hands and it is not my place to worry.

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

  1. Good morning from Tennessee! You and your husband and baby boy, recently visited out Church, Liberty Baptist, Kingston. My husband and I were not able to attend that night, (due to Covid reasons as I recall), but we were very blessed to be able to watch the service that night via YouTube. We enjoyed hearing about your family’s call to the mission field and hearing your husband preach. Well I just learned via Facebook that you all will be leaving today for the field. I just want you to know I’m praying for you and your family. See, I understand what it’s like to see your only daughter, my son-in-law, and our only grandchild leave for the foreign field. Our daughter was close to your age and our little granddaughter was not quite 2 years old. Our little family has been on the field now a bit over 5 years. So I say all that to say this…you and your family will be in my prayers today. My daughter has a story, as we like to call it, and so will you! I’m looking forward to reading yours. God bless you and your family on this journey for HIM!

    1. Thank you so much for reaching out and lifting us up through prayer! You know how to specifically pray for us and that is so special. I’m sorry we missed meeting you but hopefully we can stay connected and meet in the future!
