I am currently reading through II Kings but I enjoy reading a Psalm and Proverb every day as well. I have enjoyed II Kings and it has included some convicting chapters. When listing a king, God usually tells us if he loved God or if he loved evil. He will also include who his parents were and the majority of the time the kings will follow in their parents footsteps. This constantly reminds me of the influence I have on my children and household.
If mama ain’t happy ain’t nobody happy, right? I would say this is actually very accurate! Wives and mothers have a drastic impact on the “temperature” of the home. Reading through Proverbs we are constantly reminded to have a sweet spirit and merry heart. God thinks our attitudes are very important! Proverbs nineteen teaches on just that. Here we see a contrast between two women. One woman is a constant annoyance and the other is considered a gift from God.
Contentious or Prudent?
It’s a good idea to self evaluate often. What category do I fall under? Have I been quick to pick a fight and easily offended? Does my husband and do my children have to walk on egg shells around me? Hopefully not!
I would much rather have a home that is peaceful, joyful, and sweet. The best way I can image to be prudent is so spend time with my sweet Heavenly Father every day. What better way to be a thoughtful wife and mother than to first know my relationship with Christ is where it should be. Underneath my walk with God will come a happy home that others love being in!
